Clinical Pharmacy Specialist Pain Management

The duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for the development of a therapeutic plan which is intended to achieve definite drug-therapy outcomes that improve the patient's quality of life
  • Interviews patients to determine medical history and reviews history for potential drug interactions, poly-pharmacy, therapeutic duplication, noncompliance and adverse drug reactions
  • Assess the need for risk reduction related to opiate therapy including dose, signed pain contract, recent UA, and benzodiazepine co-administration. Works with patient and providers to maximize benefit and reduce risk
  • Monitors and manages medication therapy under an approved scope of practice with an emphasis in pain management
  • Provides drug information to physicians, nurses, trainees, and other health care professionals
  • Participates in interdisciplinary care conferences related to the Pain Management program
  • Supervises and precepts pharmacy residents and students as assigned

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm
